Importance of Protein

Protein plays a critical role in the growth, repair, and maintenance of various tissues and systems within the human body.

This macronutrient is indispensable for our overall health and well-being. Proteins are composed of amino acids, which serve as the building blocks for enzymes, hormones, antibodies, and muscle tissue.

Without an adequate intake of protein, the body struggles to repair damaged cells, regulate vital processes, and build and maintain muscle mass.

Protein also plays a vital role in weight management. A diet rich in protein helps control appetite, promoting a feeling of fullness and reducing the urge to overeat.

Moreover, it has a higher thermic effect compared to fats and carbohydrates, meaning it requires more energy to digest, contributing to a slight boost in metabolism.

Whether you’re an athlete looking to optimize performance, an individual striving to lose weight, or someone committed to overall health, the importance of protein in your diet cannot be overstated.

Our top choice for the best tasting ready made protein shake is Premier Protein. These come in conveniently sized 325ml bottles or cartons that packs in 30 grams of protein per serving.

There are a lot of flavors to choose from, but our preferred flavors are caramel, strawberries and cream and chocolate. Premier Protein does offered a variety pack that comes with 12 random flavors that you can sample and then go with your preferred taste. In my opinion, the caramel flavor has a nice amount of sweetness and I found it less sweet than the chocolate.

The taste and texture is great as there is no chalky after taste found in most protein shakes and powders. I keep them refrigerated as they go down well when chilled.

Lean Body Protein Shakes come in a larger bottle at 500ml packing in 40 grams of protein per serving. With 280 calories, these protein shakes are more of a meal replacement than Premier Protein.

Good taste and texture that goes down smoothly. I like to keep my ready made protein drinks chilled. Only drawback for me is that the bottles are too large and can fill you up quite quickly. But none the less a good amount for a meal replacement.

What’s The Difference Between Ready Made Protein Shakes and Protein Powder?

The choice between ready-made protein drinks and protein powder largely comes down to convenience and personal preference.

Ready-made protein drinks, often found in bottles or cartons, are very convenient. They are pre-measured and pre-mixed, making them perfect for people on the go or those who prefer a grab-and-go option after a workout.

These drinks are available in various flavors and are an excellent choice when you need a quick protein fix without the hassle of mixing and blending.

On the other hand, protein powders provide more versatility.

There are various types available such as whey, plant-based, and casein, and can be customized to your preferences. You can adjust the serving size, mix with different liquids like water, milk, or smoothies, and even add fruits, vegetables, or other ingredients to suit your taste.

This flexibility allows you to control the calorie, sugar, and protein content of your shakes. Additionally, protein powders are often more cost-effective in the long run and produce less waste compared to single-use bottles, making them a more eco-friendly option.

Ultimately, the choice between ready-made protein drinks and protein powder depends on your lifestyle and individual needs.

If you prioritize convenience and are always on the move, pre-packaged drinks may be the way to go.

But if you value customization and cost-efficiency, protein powders offer you the flexibility to tailor your protein intake to your specific dietary and fitness goals. You can read more about our preferred protein powder here.

What To Look For In a Protein Shake

When selecting a protein drink, there are a few key factors to consider.

First and foremost, have a look at the protein content per serving. It should align with your dietary goals and daily protein requirements.

Pay attention to the source of protein, whether it’s whey, casein, plant-based, or another type, as this can affect factors like digestibility and flavor.

Additionally, check the sugar content, aiming for options with minimal added sugars or sweeteners to avoid unwanted calories.

Finally, consider flavor and texture preferences to ensure you enjoy the taste, making it easier to incorporate the protein drink into your daily routine.

Final Thoughts

The reason why I prefer Premier Protein as our best tasting ready made protein shakes is that it has a very good amount of protein per serving. The size at 325ml is perfect for me as I like to consume 3 bottles per day.

1 as a mid morning snack, 1 after a workout and 1 later in the evening as a snack after supper. This gives me a daily intake of 90 grams of protein per day outside of my protein rich foods that I consume with healthy carbs for my 3 main meals.

The Lean Body Protein Shake is great if you really want to pack on the muscle and more into body building. 3 bottles per day will give you 120 grams of protein outside of your protein rich meals.

If you are vegetarian and looking for a option for your needs or even just want to be more health conscious with what you eat, then ICONIC is great for that.

All three ready made protein shakes are convenient for a quick grab and go. As mentioned above, if you busy and always on the go, make sure that you are stocked with your favorite ready to drink protein shake.
